i had no idea just how EXTREME billy joel was until i heard "I go to Extremes", a gripping tune with cutting edge lyrical wizardry:
sometimes i lie awake, night after night
coming apart at the seams
eager to please, ready to fight
why do i go to extremes?
this album is possibly the worst 4x platinum, that's right 4x platinum, ever.
hats off to billy joel, you tapped 4 million american idiots to buy one of the lamest records ever
'And So It Goes', is just a perfect song. Anyone, and that's everyone, who has ever had their heart broken, can relate.
The video with crowd singing, brought up in the mix at the end, does justice to its universal beauty.
My two favorite Billy Joel songs are on this album. "We Didn't Start the Fire" is my favorite fast Billy song and "And So It Goes" is my favorite slow song. However, this is not my favorite album because it does have a couple songs on it that I never could get in to. I cringe and immediately push the skip button when I hear the first few notes of "Downeaster Alexa" and "Shameless". Don't ask me why (haha), I just don't like those two songs. Glass Houses is my favorite overall album because I love every song on it. But don't get me wrong, I still give this album 5 stars. Billy writes the best songs and is a true genius!
I love storm front. SO 80's. I love it.
Not as good as his earlyer work but a great Popy, 80's Rock album!

Storm Front is my favorite Billy Joel album. It is the perfect driving music and is what I put on when I want to lift my mood. "That's Not Her Style" is a fun song to start the album, the lyrics are very clever and the beat is great. "Storm Front" is also a song with a great beat and great lyrics, and where else but in a Billy Joel song would you hear the word "cumulonimbus"? Then there is "Leningrad". It is in my opinion the most beautiful melody of any song that Billy Joel has ever written. I have always had a dream of seeing him singing it backed up by a huge classical choir. When I was (finally) able to see him in concert in May 2007 in Oklahoma City, he sang "We Didn't Start the Fire", "Shameless", and "And So It Goes" and needless to say, I was thrilled.
