‘The Last Play At Shea’ 3-Day Free Online Exclusive At Mets.com And MLB.com!

The Last Play At Shea returns for baseball and Billy Joel fans with a 3-day free online exclusive at Mets.com and MLB.com.

This is the time to remember the last days of Shea Stadium with the critically praised documentary film The Last Play At Shea. In 2008, both the NY Mets and the NY Yankees closed the doors to ballparks synonymous with New York. In July of 2008, Yankee Stadium hosted an epic 15-inning MLB All-Star Game. Not to be outdone, the Mets invited legendary recording artist and NY icon Billy Joel to perform the last concert at Shea Stadium. Forty-three years earlier in August 1965, Shea Stadium hosted The Beatles in the first concert held at a major stadium. The Last Play At Shea chronicles the intersecting histories of this landmark ballpark, the Mets and Billy Joel. The Last Play At Shea weaves interviews with MLB players and performers with exclusive live footage shot at Joel's historical Shea concerts in 2008 — featuring special guests Sir Paul McCartney, Tony Bennett, Garth Brooks, John Mayer, Steven Tyler and Roger Daltrey. There is enough classic Mets footage dating back to the team’s first days at Shea to please every generation of Mets fans, including magic moments from the 1969 and 1986 World Series Championships and interviews with Tom Seaver, Keith Hernandez, Darryl Strawberry and Ron Darling. Mike Piazza also offers powerfully emotional reflections about the first home game played at Shea after the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. The Last Play At Shea is narrated by NY native Alec Baldwin (TV’s “30 Rock”).
