  • Re: The Stranger (2 CD Legacy Edition)

I have never had a needle on a vinyl record be so unwilling to track the master work that is undeniably, The Stranger. I saw The Kinks, the Who and Elvis Costello bomb in front of thousands of die hard fans stoned and happy attempting to be wasted.

The stranger provokes a quite different experience all together, like a fine wine.

    Beautiful and elegant.

The best albums always get the worst reviews in Rolling Stone.

Actually it might have been the Village Voice, whatever, BIG SHOT is drama and elegance wrapped tightly with what Bill Murray and Rodney Dangerfield shat in Caddyshack; why did the producers pick A lame Loggins' song for the meat and potatoes delivery? Actually I love the footloose and middle harmony's with Messena.... I guess anger was locked up with the odd couple and let loose a few years later on the left coast.

When I first heard this song I worked for Shop Rite for $3.76 an hour in a north new jersey town. TPTB later found the tasks I was required to do unsuitable for a 16 year old boy, the bailer that crushed cardboard was my racket. The culture of the union was extreme and dominate because my union dues exceeded the amount of tax out of my pay check. My boss abused me and forced me to swallow speed pills, yellows or blackies 10 for a dollar and it worked for me, Captain Jack was on the radio and Candy O by the Cars knocked at number one.
