Having sold more than 100 million records over the course of an extraordinary career spanning more than 40 years, Billy Joel ranks as one of most popular recording artists and respected entertainers in the world. He is a six-time Grammy winner and is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. When it was announced earlier this year that Billy Joel -- who holds the Madison Square Garden record for the longest sequence of sold-out shows by a single artist (12) -- would perform the last concerts at New York's fabled Shea Stadium, more than 110,000 tickets sold out in just 45 minutes. Joel's historic "Last Play At Shea" concerts are scheduled for July 16 and 18.

As a UK fan, was soooo looking forward to seeing Billy and Elton John at the Wembly stadium in London. In the event, Billy had to pull out
However, Elton marvellous. Would love to see Billy play in the UK, failing that, could you please make sure you are playing in New York 17th - 21st April 2009 when we are coming over to celebrate our 50th birthdays!! Best regards. Kim Brown, Lincolnshire, UK

Two weeks, two days
And I'll be attending the Friday concert at Shea! Traveling to NYC from Dallas just to see Billy play in his hometown.
Can't wait! I've got a recent blog on the subject on my page as well.
The countdown continues.....
Awww
man i wanted to see that, but congrats Billy!
response to sell out
It's no surprise to me that this concert would sell out this quickly. The "Last Play at Shea" should be a great performance, among the best. Billy Joel doesn't do a lot of touring and any chance people get to see the best musician and performance artist of all time they will take. Congratulations Billy Joel on your awesome success.
