Legendary Musician returns to Kansas City for First Time in Five Years

Dec. 12, 2014 (Kansas City, Mo.)— Mayor Sly James announced today that after five years music icon, Billy Joel will return to Kansas City for one night only on Friday, May 1, 2015. The concert will mark Billy Joel’s first solo headlining appearance since December 2007 during Sprint Center’s opening season. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, Dec. 19 at 10 a.m.

“On behalf of the City of Kansas City, it is an honor and privilege to welcome Billy Joel back to Sprint Center,” said Kansas City Mayor Sly James. “Fans from Kansas City and throughout the Midwest will undoubtedly enjoy a stellar performance from one of the world’s most popular entertainers.”

Having sold 150 million records over the past quarter century, Billy Joel ranks as one of most popular recording artists and respected entertainers in history. The singer/songwriter/composer is the sixth best-selling recording artist of all time, the third best-selling solo artist and is one of the highest grossing touring artists in the world. Joel has received six GRAMMY® Awards, including the prestigious Grammy Legend Award. Most recently, he received the Kennedy Center Honor, The Library Of Congress Gershwin Prize For Popular Song and the ASCAP Centennial Award. He has been inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and has received numerous industry awards.
