I went with my wife to the concert in Brisbane Australia on 4th dec 2008 and we loved it so much that i went again to the sat concert on 6th dec 2008 with my daughter(Charlie 10yrs). i have been a fan since i was 12yrs(I am now 33). the 1st album i bought was "The Bridge" and i have never looked back. i have every album Billy has released. i went to the concerts for the "Storm Front" and "River of Dreams " tour in Sydney, but the Brisbane concerts are my favorite by far.I love that Billy did lots of album tracks. The best part was that Billy opened with "Angry Young Man" ( one of my all time favorites ). Go "Chainsaw". I am tempted to fly to Sydney just to see Billy again. Please Tour again Billy.

I have seen Billy three times now in Australia and each one is a little different. What was great about this gig was that Biily performed songs from the albums that were not the hits on them, for example Zanzibar from 52nd Street. Great song from a great album.

As always the music was great, the reason you go and not for the effects, and the band seemed to be enjoying themsleves, always a good sign.

I took someone with me who hadn't been before and after about ten minutes told me that this was such a good show. The song list was great, though I thought "The Stranger" might have got a run given thirty year anniversary edition out this year. No big deal though.

So a great gig, great sound, enough passion and fun in the band and a playlist for perhaps both the fans and Billy himself.

Keep rocking Billy and may we all continue to enjoy the ride.

Billy,

A great singer and a legendary song writer. I last saw you Thursday and in 1986. It wasn't until I saw U2 in 1995 had I seen a better concert. We know you can't play all your fabulous hits but a little surprised not 1 song from innocent man, it had 6 songs that made the USA top 40 (Nylon Curtain is a under rated album).

Though value for money was okay - expensive seats and you only play 2hrs with no support act. Even tubbier Elton does 2hr 30 mins and he is over 60. Your age at 59 shouldn't be an excuse for a longer concert. Still had a nice night.

New Jersey to New York being the equivalent of Tasmania to mainland Australia. HaHa.
I found that very humorous.

I have attended my first live concert of Billy's.
Anyhow, I LOVED the show.
The songs he sang during the Saturday night (local time) concert are still rolling through my mind ... and why would they NOT be Smiling

Thank you W.M.Joel (Billy) for a marvellous/wonderful evening of VERY enjoyable music.
P.S. - Thanks too for allowing the crowd participation during Piano Man.

Just got home from BrisVegas after the Thursday night show. I've been going to Billy's concerts since the 1986 Bridge tour when he came to Brisbane twice in the one year and I was hooked! I've had the front row before and been able to run down the front, but they restrict how many rows of people can run down the front each year and I haven't been able to since the Storm Front tour. Boy is it worth it, I managed to get right in front of the stage mid centre and I shook his hand 3 times. I will never forget it and the other band members were great too especially Mark Rivera (who I mistook for Ritchie Cannata-oops) and the musical director on guitar and Crystal-who doesn't dance as much as she used to...

Berrie I don't think everyone is too old to dance they are just too scared unless others join in (not me). in 2006 I got up for a heap of songs as I wasn't allowed to run down the front. This time I restrained myself, and waited till I could run down the front. I really wish I had of danced to Zanzibar though I was dying too, and Don't ask me why also!
Wish I was there tonight as well but I don't think I could top my experience from Thursday, so I'll just reminisce.....
Love you Billyxx

I too have grown up to Bill's songs and know most of them by heart. Was so much fun to sing along and dance, even though I was in the minority in the dancing department! What? Is everyone else getting too old to dance? lol! Was totally satisfied, but still wanted more....and more! A highlight was when the roadie sung "highway to hell".....more people got up then, but sat back down after. Must have needed a rest! I hope this isn't the last tour Bill does out here. He's definitely worth seeing over and over.

Bill, if you do read this, thank you so much for your showmanship and grace, and , of course, your brilliant musicianship and songwriting! True genius.

Billy has rocked Brisbane once again. loved the show from the gold class seats (don't know why people pay good money for platnium tickets and you have to stand all night)

I loved everysong he played including the Xmas song (a few people where shaking there head through the song)

One of the highllights was "Chainsaw" coming out to do an Aussie classic. the old keg on legs would fit in well in any pub in QLD .

Thanks for doing Scenes what a song.........

The Piano man has done it again to a sold out show.

Wowing the crowds with songs which he doesn't call hits, but we do. An angry young man, zanzibar to it's still rock and roll to me and more - all the songs we know and love. Ever The Entertainer he's energetic to the end. Fantastic lighting effects. The revolving piano and huge screens mean everyone can see him. Time flies, memories recalled and unfortunately, its all over too soon, a 2 song encore and then he is gone.

Last night, I attended my 3rd Billy Joel concert (all in Brisbane, Australia). It was a great night - and I thought it was a real bonus to see him performing out here again (I honestly thought the last time he was here would be the last time I would see him in concert).

I was a bit disappointed in the way he sung 'New York State of Mind'... Usually I love the small differences in the way he performs each song (difference to the way it would sound on the album), but this particular song it just didn't sound quite right. It was as though he was really struggling. But, it was just the one song, and the rest of the performance was great. I loved the opening 'Angry Young Man/Prelude' - it's so well suited to opening a performance! I also loved singing along to 'Scenes from Italian Restaurant' (okay, so I sang to just about all of the performance - but how can you not?!!). It did seem that he used a very similar (if not the same) song list to his 2006 tour (not necessarily a bad thing as they were all brilliant songs). I was really hoping for 'Pressure' but it was not part of the song-list unfortunately. Still, it would be a difficult and unenviable task to decide which of his many, many brilliant songs he should squeeze in to his 2 hour performance.

Billy kept his 'bells and whistles' pretty basic again, like in 2006 (and from memory, it was the same in the early 90's when I saw him before that). The revolving piano and screens were all he needed though - any more would've just been a distraction to his performance. I'd much rather be able to buy a gold class ticket because they're affordable than have a crappier ticket and see extra 'bells and whistles'. If you're reading this Bill, THANKS it is appreciated!

Would love to see him out here again - perhaps when he does those 'Face to Face' tours with Elton John (is this true - he's reuniting with Elton to perform these tours again?) he might come back out.

Being 32, I've pretty much 'grown up' on Billy's songs. It's great to be able to still see him perform the songs that mean so much to me. And there is no comparison to the sound of his music in concert to that on CD.

Thanks Bill, and hope to see you out here again soon (but please get some new jokes!! Eye-wink ).
