BJ forgeting his own lyrics????

Hey guys,
I have never seen BJ in concert but I am going to see him in March. THANK GOD!
But anyway, I hear all this talk about BJ forgeting lyrics to his songs during live shows. Is this true?? My Buddy even told me that he does not even play Captain jack live anymore because he forgets the lyrics. Then while I was in Connecticut I saw him on the late show and he started talking about how he never eats before a show so while he is performing he forgets the words to his songs because he is day dreaming about food.

Whats the deal?????

Captain Jack is played relatively frequently.
He and the band do use prompters for the lyrics, mostly as a "security blanket". Elton got Billy hooked on the technology.
The eating before the show/mind wandering story is one of Billy's 5 overused and marginally comical stories that he's been repeating for the better part of the last two decades. Don't read into it.

I've seen him maybe 10 times and he has never forgotten any lyrics, sometimes he changes them a little but never just forgot what he was doing. and yeah i agree with FritzSpitz, I can't tell you how many times I've heard that story, he is starting to remind me of my grandfather the same stories and jokes over and over, but oh well we still love him.

Ive seen a teleprompter on his piano with the lyrics coming up...after all we are getting closer to being senior citizens

I have seen him live twice at MSG and the Nassau Coliseum. He does not forget the lyrics. Unlike most artists, he has a huge catalogue of music which consists of alot of hit songs over a long career. It would be easy to forget the words but he doesnt.

He forgot the lyrics to An Innocent man in the Worcester Centrum during the Bridge tour. I was there. He said, "I was afraid this was going to happen one day." I thought he was joking, but the Globe or the Herald had the story the next day.

At least if he forgets the lyrics it at least proves he sings live unlike so many top performers.

I missed his first two concerts in Australia. I was only 7 and 10. I've seen every concert since 1987 though. He does play around with the words from time to time. Whether that's because he has forgotten or because he's bored or whatever who knows. It doesn't matter because he will just draw you in to the show so much that any little slip ups don't matter.

Besides he doesn't need to sing anyway. The last couple concerts he would just stop mid song and let the audience sing for a while. Then start up again Smiling
