Billy Joel ill, postpones 2nd upstate NY show
(AP) – 8 minutes ago

ALBANY, N.Y. — Billy Joel and Elton John have postponed a second upstate New York concert on their top-grossing tour after Joel fell ill with flu-like symptoms.

The Times Union Center in Albany says in a release the pair have decided to delay Monday's show. The venue says Joel's doctors advised him not to perform for 72 hours because of his "extreme fatigue."

Promoters said Friday's show at Buffalo's HSBC Arena was postponed after the 60-year-old Joel came down with flu-like symptoms.

A representative for Sony Music Entertainment hasn't returned a telephone call seeking comment. Joel is on Sony's Columbia label.

Both venues are working to reschedule the shows.

The Elton/Joel Face 2 Face tour has been the nation's top-grossing concert tour for the last two months.

Billy Joel and Elton John July 27th!!!

Shake it off you big fat cry baby !!! You're 60 years old, you were dumped, get over it !! Guess you're not in a "New York State of Mind" . Thanks for screwing NY you dumb ass.

Hater- i feel sorry for you.

HSBC as of Monday...no news..

A big thanks to Billy Joel and management at HSBC...this has been an very expensive fiasco for me and a blow to my teenage son who has been looking forward to our Rock and Roll weekend all summer..

Glad Mr.Joel is "better"...but it would be nice to get some positive info ...either yes the concert has been rescheduled or not it will not....

At least a word from Mr. Joel expressing he was sorry how the whole situation unfolded and at least acknowledge the fans ..many of whom traveled much further than we did...One lady was there with a friend coming in from Hawaii and another from Flrida...

i had floor tickets to the albany show. it was perfect because my and i's anniversary was july 28. it was dissappointing to hear it got cancelled. i've never got to see him in concert before. the fact he got sick is not what upset me. its the fact that its been 2 weeks now and there is still nothing that has announced or rescheduled, just an update a week ago that there is no update. with back to school shopping coming up, i think we are going to have to go the refund route. i don't want to:( i hope i have the chance to see him again one day.

i agree proctor, it is quite rediculous, there are very limited resources for us fans, this is just poor execution by the promoters

This whole situation has been handled terribly. It's been 3 weeks and we don't even get an apology for this disaster. Myself and 2 of my family members had tickets to see this show and now it looks like we'll be returning one if not all of the tickets. My question right now is how much money did they loser and are currently losing because they have not given any word on whats going on with this concert? The TU center doesn't have any information on this because trust me we've called. We were told we could refund our tickets if we wanted to but who honestly wants to refund tickets to see Billy Joel and Sir Elton John? Not us. But any information on when this concert could happen would be greatly appreciated.

i don't know if there is any truth to this, but over on elton john's website there have been a few comments posted stating that the concert would not be rescheduled until next year. they said elton refuses to play on his break (aug 2-sept 8 ). then he starts his tour overseas until november, when he and billy do the west coast. that runs through the end of november, then you have the holidays. again, i don't know if this is true or not, but it makes sense. between me, my husband, and his 2 brothers, we have $800.00 into this concert in tickets alone. we were fortunate enough to have had a days notice when it was cancelled. those poor people in buffalo. i'm sure so many people there had so much more money than we did invested in this concert, between tickets, travel, and the fact they let them pay to park, just to find out it was cancelled, among other expenses. my husband and are getting a refund. we have 4 kids, and $400.00 dollars is alot to have just sitting there, not knowing anything. (don't get me wrong, it's breaking my heart to give my tickets back) for everybody that is waiting this out,i really hope there is an update soon.

wrgb Billy Joel-Elton John concert will 'definitely' be rescheduled, Times Union Center says
a new update posted this afternoon says if you have a ticket to the albany concert, it will definantly be rescheduled, but due to conflicting schedules between elton and billy, it has been difficult. however, they are expecting to have a date after, or around labor day weekend. i know its still not much of an update again, but its something. http://blog.timesunion.com/localarts/billy-joel-elton-john-show-will-go-on-%E2%80%94-someday/3034/
--they have not released an update on buffalo yet at the time of this posting.

Thank you jproctor6, its disappointing when fans give each other more information than the website does, i have way to much money invested in these tickets to just sit here in silence, although i am sympathetic to billy joel for he was sick, i still would like to be semi informed, it seems the biggest problem is the conflicting scheduals between billy and elton, well heck, cant billy just come? aha hes the only reason im going, i hope the show is slated for sometime this year, ive been dying to go

shameful lack of professional integrity by the Joel flock.....

Will i go see the show? yes
but i am more hesitant to buy tickets in the future

Bull. Complete Bull.

It's now been over one month and nothing concrete to report. It's crap that we have to rely on fans to give us updates and no word for Mr. Joel's "Management" or himself directly. You're telling me he's so busy he can't dictate "I'm sorry for all of the inconvenience" to someone? C'mon, who is handling this? Say something...

This has been handled horribly.

POSSIBLY the worst SNAFU since hurricane Katrina

all the posts are still here. so are the ads.

500 dollars in tickets, that 500 dollars i spent to wait...

This think will take forever now with the passing of elton johns band member

sad to hear about the passing of Sir Elton's piano player.....and fWIW ...we will never see the concert

I thought we were to be given dates for the Albany and Buffalo shows the day after labor Day, well where are they...still nothing except the sad death of one of Eltons band? Now What?

It is frustrating to not hear anything about make -up dates for Albany; even a hint on whether it will be in Sept or Oct or next year...July 27th is a long time ago.

Damnit billy, tell us something

maybe they'll just keep making bull s*** annoncements every couple weeks, that in all actuality, are announcing absolutely nothing, just to shut everyone up for a while. it seems to me thats all they're doing.
